Seth and Skylar a.k.a. the tiny ninjas of Thompson’s Station

StreetlightRepublic.com Seth and Skylar

I was cracking up so hard photographing these two that my face hurt from smiling. They were my little ninjas for the day. Jumping, spinning, judo chopping: they had some pretty spectacular moves. Seth is such a good big brother and Skylar is the perfect little sister taking whatever her big bro could dish out. You can tell from these photos that they have so much fun together and love each other very much. You guys were so perfect! Thanks for being such good listeners and little models. I still owe you Dippin’ Dots!

Smiley Carter in Historic Downtown Franklin

Streetlight Republic - Carter

Man, oh man, yesterday was a gorgeous day to take photos! Myka and I loaded up Carter Cup and went out to explore Downtown Franklin and find the perfect location for her 9 month photos. Through the strong gusts of wind, the grass that was way taller than her and the rocks she digested (just kidding…but it was a close one!), she was a perfect smiley angel.

Stay tuned for session 2 from yesterday with the very hilarious Seth and Skylar…

Natchez Trace Parkway – Amy and Jake

Streetlight Republic - Engagement Photographer

Will and I took Amy and Jake down Natchez Trace Parkway yesterday to see what we could see. We stopped at Jackson Falls to check out the rushing water from a recent storm and then headed to an overlook for some fun photos with the balloons. Amy and Jake were up for anything and were so much fun to photograph. The camera loves these two and all the sweet giddy love they share. We had fun spending time and getting to know you guys!

Spring Hill, TN Children Photographer – Alaina

Streetlight Republic - Alaina

Judging by the gleam in her eye, Alaina knew the dress she was wearing last night was special. The delicate light green dress was the same one mommy wore in her 6 month photos years before. We had fun acting like complete goobers and dancing to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with you guys last night…oh, the dorky things you will do for baby smiles!

Here’s a little preview from the dancing, slobbery, pizza party.

Creative Wedding Ideas – Wedding Flowers

The photo to the left was taken by Will’s sister at Will and I’s wedding reception back in 2006. I wanted to share this with you because the arrangement changed a few days before the wedding. We received a call from a wonderful friend saying her green hydrangea were in full bloom and we could cut as many as we’d like for our wedding if we wished. OH, WE WISHED ALRIGHT! We pretty much robbed her flower bed and our wedding and reception hall turned into a beautiful hydrangea wonderland. I remember when Will and I arrived at the hall, our breath was taken away at the transformation the flowers made. It was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined, and it wouldn’t have been the same without the hundreds of hydrangea that were given to us by Mrs. Roussel. My point of telling you all of this is to show you that sometimes, with a little creativity, you can take what is outside and bring it in to create something beautiful without spending a lot of money.

One of my favorite examples of bringing the beauty of the seasons in was at Paige and Tim’s wedding. Their florists brought Bradford Pear tree branches in the hall to overflow and add huge emphasis and wow to the bridal party table. It worked!

Bozeman, Montana Wedding Photographer – Laura & Grant

Wedding Photography - Bozeman, Montana

While in Montana we got to meet and do a session with Laura and Grant at Gallatin Gateway, a historic inn for travelers to and from Yellowstone National Park on the electric railway. We fell in love with them the second we met them and had so much fun at the inn we almost ran out of daylight for the snowy mountain photos we originally wanted. We raced out to Hyalite Canyon where Laura braved the freezing wind and snow for a few beautiful photos. We had a blast with you guys…our new Bozeman buddies! I’ve got your number stored for our next trip.

Unique Wedding Ideas – Grooms Cake

With your grooms cake, you’re allowed to be as creative as you want in what you decide to order. We’ve seen an armadillo in cowboy getup, a 4-wheeling jeep stuck in the mud, Sponge Bob Square Pants, a mini golf course and many others that also allow the husbands interests to shine through the wedding a little.

One of my favorites was Kari’s dog cake. It was so perfectly created with Sam’s name on his dog tag and the glisten in his eyes. There was even food in his dog bowl. I was quivering when they cut it because it was too pretty to eat.

The grooms cake is a fun way to let you and your grooms personality shine through a little without sacrificing the traditional wedding things your mom wants you to do.Grooms Cake - Sammy

Kari’s doggy cake was made by Billie Mochow, sugarrtst@aol.com.

I like to show off whose wedding the ideas I share with you came from. Kari and Mike were married at Holy Trinity Church in Nashville, our first Greek Orthodox wedding to photograph. The traditions were so beautiful to witness and be a part of.

Will and I were both taken aback by the beautiful colors and details in the sanctuary. Who needs flowers when you have this!Grooms Cake - Kari

Thanks for stopping by!

Montana. Home away from home.

We made it! Beautiful Montana and 4 feet of snow, we are here. And it didn’t even take us 3 hours to get home (that was supposed to be a joke for all of you Nashvillians who were hit with a massive storm today on your way home from work…probably not funny though now that I think about the fact that it really did take some of you 3 hours to get home).

Today we hit the beautiful Hyalite Canyon and didn’t believe Uncle Randy when he told us we needed cross-country skis. Tomorrow we will listen. You’ll see why.

All these photos were taken with my new handy-dandy little phone. Will has been playing with it non-stop since it takes pretty awesome pics for a camera phone.

I’d say Will was pretty bored on the flight…

Flying over the mountains. ALMOST there!

This is why we needed cross-country skis. Yes, I was standing and I hadn’t even sunken all the way in yet! This stuff was like 4 ft deep or more.

Tomorrow we will be getting either cross-country skis or a snowboard. Wish us luck!
